Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be between 1-12 pages and constitute a complete story within that space. Each page must be 8.5×11 inches with a one inch trim (white space) added around all borders.  This means your final page size will be 9.5×12.

You must be 18 or older to submit your work.

Submissions can be in color, grayscale, or B&W (black and white) at 300-600 dpi. B&W and grayscale submissions have publication priority. However, if color is where you excel, we encourage you to submit your work in color. Files must be in JPG, TIFF, or PDF and must be set to CMYK.

Priority is given to alternative and independent comic creators. Professionals and freelancers can submit their work, but the work must be an independent project which is not tied to any previously paid work.

All submissions must also include the creators 50-250 word bio and link to website (if you have one). If you are submitting as part of a creative team, a bio and website link for each member of your team (writer, penciller, inker, letterer, designer) must also be included.

Payment for submission to the anthology is two printed copies of the anthology in which your work is printed for each member of your creative team.

By submitting your work to the anthology, your story will also be automatically entered into Spectare Creative’s Independent Comic Award cash prize for best short comic in the year in which your work appeared. The cash prize is awarded to the story, so if you have more than one person working on the comic, the prize will be split equally between you all.  If the comic is a work for hire situation, the person who comissioned the others on the team will receive the prize money.  In a work for hire situation, splitting the prize money is at the discretion of the owner of work.

Submissions for the Fall Anthology are due by midnight, September 30, 2014
A response will be given to everyone who submits their work. All accepted works will be notified by October 15th.
